There are many instances when a Reiki practitioner needs to explain or even justify the existence of Reiki healing. Because Reiki cannot be seen, it can be challenging to understand and accept.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing modality that connects to the universal energy surrounding us. The concept of universal energy parallels other energy sources in our environment that we cannot see, such as electricity, magnetism, heat, gravity, and ultraviolet light. While we may not see them, we can certainly feel their presence; for instance, the pull of magnets, the results of electricity when boiling water, or the gravitational pull that makes objects fall to the ground. Have you ever noticed mobile phone signals (radio frequency waves) or Wi-Fi (high energy microwaves)? Numerous energy sources permeate our daily lives, often without our conscious awareness.
Since its discovery thousands of years ago, various branches of Reiki modalities have evolved, including Usui Reiki, Jikiden Reiki, Karuna Reiki, Lightarian Reiki, and Sekehemor Seichem Reiki, which are often regarded as the core types. Additionally, you may come across other evolved forms of Reiki such as Holy Fire Reiki and Angel Reiki.
Individuals who have experienced Reiki healing energy often report positive effects on their personal healing, mental and emotional wellness, and overall quality of life. While some remain skeptical, it's important to note that Reiki is not a promise to cure or fix; rather, it serves as a holistic therapy that supports wellbeing, healing, and recovery. With no contraindications, anyone of any age can benefit from Reiki therapy, making it a valuable complement to conventional medicine and healthcare, providing support alongside these treatments.

Reiki healing is a regulated complementary and holistic therapy that is backed by research (see the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council or UK Reiki Federation for more information). Numerous studies and other information about Reiki modalities are readily available online. Additionally, Reiki is offered as a holistic therapy within the NHS to complement medical treatments, palliative care, and/or mental health and wellbeing.
There will always be sceptics; believe me, I've given Reiki healing therapy to a few. The amazing thing is, everyone has a unique experience. Some people fall asleep, and if that's what they need during their Reiki healing session, that's perfectly fine. Others may visualize beautiful colours and images, while some feel a range of emotional sensations. All of these experiences are valid and align with what the individual needs. When you undergo a Reiki healing treatment, it's important to be open and allow yourself to relax, embracing the moment of peace and tranquility. Remember, energy flows where attention goes. By focusing our minds on positive intentions, we can guide our energy effectively, a principle that resonates with various holistic therapy practices, including different Reiki modalities.
Lineage is very important as it evidences the knowledge and teachings that have been passed down from Reiki Master to Student over the generations in the realm of holistic therapy.
As new styles of Reiki modalities have been evolving over time, it is crucial to ensure that your Reiki Master Teacher has adhered to the ancestral path of Reiki teachings, maintaining an unbroken lineage that traces back to Mikao Usui, the Founder of Reiki. A complete Reiki lineage is also essential for verification when registering with a regulatory body, ensuring that the highest standards of Reiki healing are upheld.
I am registered with the UKRF and accredited by the CNHC. I take pride in my lineage that traces back to Mikao Usui, having been attuned through my teachings to Usui Reiki (Usui Reiki Ryoho/Usui Shiki Ryoho), which incorporates both Eastern and Western teachings. This commitment ensures that the traditional values and methods of Reiki healing are passed on effectively when teaching my students.
